Beaujolais Nouveau Evolved – Champagne Soiree

"Le Beaujolais Nouveau est arrivé"

Announced boisteriously with banners and balloons, Beaujolais Nouveau wine is celebrated in bars, cafes and brasseries on the 3rd Thursday of November. What began as a local phenomenon in Lyon and Beaujolais became a marketing-made fete in 1985. Shipped all over the world by various attention getting means, Beaujolais Nouveau wines’ arrival created the perfect excuse for populist celebrations.

Taking only 6 weeks from vine to bottle, hence new 'nouveau', the wine itself is not always celebratory. Actually, Nouveau is the lowest wine in the Beaujolais hierarchy and tasting can range from fruity + lively to plonk. But a gathering of friends and fun overshadows the unpredictable quality of the wine.

Unless there is a better way... A brainstorm of Franck Altruie, Group Director of http://www.legroupedelhotellerie.com/, Le General Hotel in Paris has organized the Un-Beaujolais Nouveau - a Champagne Soiree, an Invitation Only Event.

Pairing up with Champagnes Bruno Paillard (www.champagnebrunopaillard.com), Franck and his team decided to celebrate the 3rd Thursday of November in style. In the spirit of a populist celebration, friends, colleagues and guests are invited to a fete at Le General Hotel in Paris. Yet, tasting champagne clearly more evolved than 'new wine'.

Soiree invitees sip and socialize in a casually sophisticated environment. The designer hotel backdrop, conviviality of guests and Un-nouveau bubbly has made the Champagne Soiree so successful, that event is held each year.
